The Chinese Captain is hired by Wah Sing Ku to bring the Hong Family to Los Angeles from China on his ship, The Freighter, to which the Captain does and hides the Hong Family in the brig along with more Chinese civilians. When the ship arrives in L.A. Harbor, it is spotted by Sergeants Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh and Private Investigator Leo Getz, who are on Murtaugh's boat and chase the ship to which some of the Captain's Crew shoot at the cops, but miss causing the ship to catch on fire and Murtaugh's boat to sink. The Captain orders his crew to make sure that the cops are killed and that the Hongs don't escape. When Riggs boards the ship he fights off the Captain's crew and has a fight with the Captain himself who manages to escape when the ship crashes into the harbor and the Hong Family manages to secretly escape in a lifeboat and is found by Sergeant Murtaugh who secretly takes them to his house.
The next day, as Riggs, Murtaugh, and Sergeant Lee Butters leave Uncle Benny Chan's restaurant they spot the Chinese Captain outside and begin to chase him. As the Captain climbs up onto a roof, Riggs grabs his foot but the Captain kicks him away and continues to run. The Captain runs and manages to jump onto another roof to which Riggs trys to follow but winds up hanging from the roof and falls into a dumpster. On the other side of the roof, the Captain thinks he's home free, but then a foot comes out of nowhere and knocks him down to which he looks up and finds out it's his boss, Wah Sing Ku, to which they have a fight. Despite the Captain's effort to fight him, Ku gains the upper hand, and grabs the Captain by his neck, ties the ligature around his neck and strangles him to death with it for his foul-up, his betrayal, and letting the Hongs escape.
The next day, Butters reported to Riggs and Murtaugh that the Captain's strangled dead body was found on the rooftop and that two pigeons pecked his eyes out.
