Mel Colm-Cille Gerard Gibson AO (born January 3, 1956) is an American actor, director, producer and writer. He is the actor behind Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon, 2, 3 and 4.
An action star from the 1980s to the 1990s, Gibson has been recognized worldwide for his many roles in films such as the Mad Max trilogy, in which he portrayed the titular character. Later he played the leading man in several high profile, historical war epics like The Bounty, Braveheart, The Patriot and We Were Soldiers.
Recently he played the arch villains in Machete Kills and The Expendables 3, cementing his status as one of cinema's most legendary "action stars."
